Hey Ya'll

I'm Rachel.

I’m so glad you’re here.

Quit Asking Me The Same Question

Quit Asking Me The Same Question

If you have ever been around children, ever, you will be aware that they like to ask questions. And whoever, said boys don’t talk as much as girls never met my three year old who I call “chitter-chatter” because that’s all he does… ever!

Some kids ask more questions than others but they are always repeated.

I found myself hollering at my five year old to “quit asking me the same question over and over!!”

And then as I sat there driving down the road listening to the constant chatter and being asked the same question… again, I thought:

‘I’m glad God doesn’t say that to me!’

My kids ask me the same question repeatedly because they want to validate my answer. They want to be sure of something they cannot be sure of until it actually happens. Or they are trying to change my answer.

I don’t know about you, but I absolutely always do that with God.

“Hey God, Thanks for all this… now, how much longer am I going to have to live with X, Y or Z?”
And the question is on repeat every day as if I’m expecting a different answer than the one I’ve already gotten.

“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus,” Philippians 1:6.

God, Thank you for your certainty and your promises. Thank you for giving me my struggles and my shortcomings and giving me the opportunity to bring it to you. Remind me of your perfect timing when I find myself believing that I’m done or that I’ll never be ‘fixed.’ And give me the strength to embrace myself, not as I want to be, but as you created me to be.
Amen
